Resources

The following are potential resources for parents and caregivers in the greater Gwinnett County area to aid in the support of their adult individual(s) with intellectual or developmental disabilites.  While we try to keep this list updated, it should be considered a "living" list that will always be evolving.  If you are aware of a particular resource that is not displayed or a change in one of the listed programs, please email us at GAPathways@gmail.com so we can update the list.

Young Adult Services

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS)

The public school system in Gwinnett County offers outstanding support for school-age students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  As students grow into young adults, GCPS has several programs to serve these individuals as they transition from public school into adulthood.

The Buice Center oversees the ADAPT, BRIDGESTRIVE and Project SEARCH programs that prepare students for success in future endeavors in college, career, and personal readiness.  The Buice Center is located at 1225 Northbrook Parkway, Suwanee, Georgia 30024.

The Buice Center compiles a comprehensive, 65-page Special Needs Directory (updated 2024) of available services and programs to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Gwinnett County and beyond.  This is an excellent starting point for parents and caregivers that are looking for support.

The GCPS Transition Fair is held usually in late March at Peachtree Ridge High School, 1555 Old Peachtree Road NW, Suwanee, Georgia 30024.  The annual announcement usually is sent out mid-February.  This fair brings together many of the programs and resources together for a morning of learning for parents, caregivers, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  There is no fee to attend.  Questions about the event should be sent via email to Transition.Fair@gcpsk12.org.
